Why Take a Vacation to Naples
All popular Italian destinations have their calling card. For example, no Rome trip can't go without a visit to the Colleseum, no Venice getaway is complete without a gondola ride, and you just can't go to Pisa and not take a photo with you supporting (or trying to topple) its famous leaning tower. When it comes to Naples, probably the first thing that comes to mind when anyone thinks of the amazing city is the best pizza. And it's totally fair, the city is the motherland of modern pizza after all, but on the other hand, Naples has so much more to offer that it seems almost unfair not to renown the town for its beautiful architecture, authentic churches, and old squares. So, if Colosseum is already crossed off your list, hop onboard a Rome to Naples train and set off to explore the sites and landmarks in Naples.
If you are in a mood to really get to know the city and imbue with its unique atmosphere, an extensive walking tour of Naples is a perfect opportunity. You can start by visiting the striking 13-century Naples Cathedral, the city's gem, nestled right in its center. After that, you can continue to such remarkable Naples' sights as the Royal Palace of Naples, Santa Chiara Church, Galleria Umberto I, San Martino, or San Gennaro Catacombs. If you don't have enough time for a proper guided tour of Naples, you can at least enjoy a stroll along its narrow cobbled streets, admiring the beautiful architecture.
Another great thing to do in Naples is stopping by the Mt. Vesuvius, located not far from the city. The daredevils can even try to hike the majestic mountain and, if you are feeling exceptionally adventurous, have a peek into its crater.
